Guess who went to Margaret River?

Bertie has just taken his Mum and her friend Dianne - who is visiting from California, USA to Margaret River and surrounds. Their first stop was in Mandurah to have a coffee with Golda and here he is pictured with Golda & Dianne. Then Bertie found himself outside Vat 107 in MR - a restaurant his Mum has been to many times. Day two included a visit to the very south west of Western Australia - to Augusta, the lighthouse and to see where the two oceans (Southern & Indian) meet. Here he is at a lookout, outside Augusta.

For three nights Bertie slept outside this lovely cottage at Bussells Bushland Cottages - a lovely place to be. Day three saw his Mum & Dianne indulging at the MR Chocolate Factory while he waited patiently outside.

It was fun for Bertie to go on a long drive - and his Mum said he was great fun to be with. For those interested - he got 17 kms per litre or 48 miles per gallon in old terms - what a champion!

Final Touch

Finally........ everything is done! This is Shane putting the replacement spoiler on - he even came to Bertie's home to do it. Thanks Shane. Now Bertie is totally complete and so, so beautiful! Bertie's Mum also bought him a brand new Perth & surrounds map AND with it came a WA Atlas - with all the roads in Western Australia marked on it. Looks like Bertie will be having plenty more adventures.

Country Visiting

Last Thursday Bertie went to visit some 'sort of'' relatives of his. They live in a lovely part of Perth - Up The Hill! Alexander and his parents and grandparents live there - and here are some photos of them all together. It is nice to go on a drive but Bertie does so wish that the other cars going 'up the hill' would move over to the left hand lane - so he could really get a chance to show his Mum how powerful he is!

The Nice Man at VW

Normally one wouldn't include a car salesman in their list of people to tell the world about! ..... but Bertie wanted to show his appreciation to this particular one - for being instrumental in not only finding him for his Mum! ..... but also for his patience and dedication to making him look as handsome as he is.

Thank you Mr Ken.

Boo Hoo!

Poor Bertie - so many disappointments! On Tuesday Bertie's Mum received a call to say "Bertie's wheels are here - come on down and we'll fit them". One hour later - Bertie and his Mum arrived at the Type shop to have THE wheels fitted. Alas ........... 15 minutes later and the TyreMan came out and said "I'm sorry - but 'they' sent the wrong size wheels from the Eastern States. Would you like to choose another type which we could perhaps fit today - or do you want to wait another 2 weeeks?"

Bertie's Mum just sighed - and told the TyreMan - "We'll wait thank you - those are THE wheels that we want".

Bertie and his Mum went home very dejected.

But..........

on Saturday Bertie's Mum went to a Caravaning Show and came home all excited - she'd found a friend for Bertie. Check her out www.thetab.com.au ! She promised to take Bertie to meet her very soon.

......nearly done!

Here is Bertie's spoiler - well it is the one he has for now. He has a new one coming - due to this one having a dent in it when it was fitted! And..... the wheels are being fitted this week - Bertie is VERY excited and his Mum is too!

This is Bertie having a wash! He does get very dirty very easily - probably because he is such a beautiful yellow - which shows rain spots, dust from buildings next door and his own brake dust!

Keep watching - it won't be long now - and you will see Bertie in his full glory!

....... still waiting

..... but meanwhile Bertie had a very important job to do today. It was his Mum's nephew's (James) school ball - and James wanted Bertie to take him to the Pre-Ball party where he was meeting up with his partner for the night. See the photo - James looked very handsome (just like Bertie).

Waiting, waiting, waiting....

.... it's hard for a young fella to wait! But wait he must - apparently Bertie's spoiler is nearly ready to be fitted but his wheels are still a way off.

Today Bertie had an imporant passenger - Indigo. His Mum picked up Indigo from school and took her to a swimming lesson and then back to her house. Here she is sitting in the back of Bertie.
Life for Bertie has settled down somewhat but he is still meeting all sorts of new people. On Saturday he had his first trip to 'the country'. He went to visit Yasmin's Nanna & Opa, Uncle Paul AND Alexander - all the way up the hill to Stoneville. He loved the drive - got a bit impatient with all the people going slow up the hill - but much to Nanna's surprise - he snuck in the back and she didn't even hear him come. Alexander loved showing off his new house to Bertie's Mum and rightly so - it is beautiful - unfinished, but beautiful all the same.

On the way back from Stoneville - Bertie made this special stop - to buy a pizza (or two) from Little Caesars in Mundaring - which he carried all the way to High Wycombe where he met Colin & Cheryle. They took him for a drive and thought he was pretty special - but they also liked the pizza!

On Sunday Bertie went to visit his relatives in Padbury and James & Tim (who had had rides before) just had to get in the back when their sister Renee had her first ride. Renee loved that Bertie has lots of yellow on the inside as well as the outside.

So.... keep looking ...........

Bertie's Weekend

Just as well it's Monday because Bertie needs a rest!

His Mum is feeling much more comfortable with all the new gadgets and things now and is really loving the sunroof! The full moon looked very special through the open roof last night.

On Friday he was shown off to Sheena and then Tristy and Indigo. He also got a new surround on his front number plate - as the 'VW Osborne Park' one wasn't up to his Mum's standards! As I'm sure you'll agree from the photos!!!!

Bertie took his Mum to lunch at Sorrento Quay on Saturday to meet Kathy, her bestest girlfriend from boarding school. He was in the car park for a long time as they had a lot to catch up on! They then drove to Mt Claremont to pick up Yolanda and on down to Fremantle for fish and chips at Cicerello's. That was a long drive and his Mum really got a chance to relax and enjoy him.

Early Sunday morning Bertie and his Mum went down to Scarborough Beach. His Mum went for a long walk while Bertie stayed in the carpark where lots of the people on their daily walks admired him - he likes that!

He had another lengthy drive at night when he took his Mum and Barbara to the Pines Outdoor cinema and from there to the airport to pick up Zia Kate who came home from Melbourne. He then slept the night at Zia Kate's as Pete is still away - and she likes company.

So - many new experiences on the weekend - most of which will become everyday events soon enough!

Visitors and visiting!

Bertie was getting a bit concerned this morning because he didn't see his Mum until 11am! She was busy cleaning the house because ladies were coming for an Enjo party! .......but then .... finally, she came out and off they went to visit their 'special family friends' who had arrived home from Europe in the early hours of the morning. Bertie's horn woke them up and despite them being half asleep - they loved him.

After lunch the ladies came - and once again he was admired but his proudest moment was tonight when he and his Mum went to visit Peg for her 40th birthday and his Mum's nephews and their friends were there and he took them for 'a spin' around the block.

Bertie's Mum was pretty excited when she got in and turned on the lights - WOW they are blue and red on the inside - it lights up just like an aeroplane or a space capsule! The boys loved Bertie - loved his radio and loved the noise he made when his Mum took off down the street.

This was a great day - and Bertie hopes there'll be plenty more just like it!

.... still visiting

The next visit was to Bertie's Granny and Granddad! GD wanted a photo "just like in the TV ad" ..............

First Visits

The first visit was to Mary Russell ....... here we are at her house

Bertie's First Passenger - Zia

Zia Kate needed a lift to the airport today - so Bertie happily obliged.

PRESENTING...................BERTIE !!!!

Bertie's arrival was not without hiccups. Bertie took a long time to get out of the 'delivery room'. Getting the old WCE 133 numberplates was not problem. But..... then Bertie's Mum noticed that Bertie wasn't quite as she had thought she'd ordered! (There's got to be a lesson there, surely!)

Bertie has 'horrendous' wheels - well, so says Bertie's Mum - so after negotiations - tears - more negotiations - Bertie's Mum said she'd take him home with these wheels - but..... that she wanted to change them. Negotiations are taking place - and you shall be kept up to date as these progress.

Bertie is also waiting for his spoiler - it is coming by camel from 'over east'.

So, you see - while it is a happy day because we have Bertie here - there will be more.........

Meanwhile - I hope you enjoy looking at him!

WELCOME BERTIE

Bertie is coming to live with his mother! And this will be his story.

Bertie is a 2007 Yellow, turbo diesel VW Beetle - with sunroof.

Bertie has come all the way from Mexico - to Brisbane - where he waited and waited for someone who wanted a beetle just like him!

He was picked on 18/12/2006 and his Mum has waited quite impatiently for him to arrive.

There'll be photos - after Bertie arrives at 10am!
